festival contre le racisme

The festival contre le racisme originally comes from France, where it has been organized by the umbrella organization of students (UNEF) for over a decade at various locations. For some years now, various fclr series have also been taking place in Germany. These are also hosted by local student bodies.

At most locations, the fclr includes a series of events that deal with the topics of racism and (group-related) misanthropy in the broadest sense and a concert that usually marks the end and thus the climax of the series.

In recent years, the fclr festival series against racism, anti-Semitism and misanthropy in Hanover has grown to become the largest of its kind in Germany. This has been made possible because the festival is not organized solely by the AStA, which is largely reconstituted each year. The planning, conception and implementation of the series is carried out here by a wide variety of groups, structures, initiatives and individuals. This makes long-term planning possible: experience grows, and knowledge transfer and the constant further development of the concept are also guaranteed.

In Hanover, the free open-air concert in the Welfengarten has kicked off the series of events for several years now and thus serves to promote the content-related events far into the region. In 2019 – at our last open air concert in the Welfengarten due to Corona – about 4,000 visitors attended the open air in bright sunshine and not only celebrated exuberantly to the bands but also set a clear sign against racism. The series of events continued this success and was attended in large numbers. Thank you!

This year’s „festival contre le racisme“ will finally take place again with an open air concert – on 27 August 2022 from 3 pm in the Welfengarten. There you can expect again this year 5 acts on the main stage, the Elchkeller stage with danceable beats from the turntable and much more. This year, the series of events following the festival will focus on racism, anti-Semitism and misanthropy, as well as on colonialism. As every year, the event series has been created in cooperation with local groups and initiatives. All current information about the Open Air and the event series can be found on our social media channels and soon also on our website.
