AStA

The General Student Committee (AStA) is the executive body of the constituted student body. It represents the interests of the students inside and outside the university, takes care of current requests and carries out the decisions of the Student Council (StuRa). The AStA members carry out this work in various departments (Referate) and are supported by administrative staff (Clerical Offices). The speakers of the AStA as well as the clerks are elected by the StuRa. The current AStA understands itself as a grassroots democratic „collective“, which means that all decisions are made by consensus and the collective is committed to decisions made by the general assemblies of all students.

In addition, the AStA offers numerous services, like BAföG, social and study counseling, interest-free loans or free tables for the canteen.

The AStA also publishes readers and information material on various (university) political and other student topics and organizes events on university and socially relevant topics, such as the annual ‚Festival contre le racisme‘ in June. Last but not least, it negotiates the conditions for the semester ticket and thus enables students a high degree of flexibility and mobility. Furthermore, there is the possibility of free use of selected bicycle repair shops in Hanover. In addition, the AStA helps with (almost) all problems that can arise in everyday student life, just come by! You can inform yourself about our work over a cup of coffee or tea or simply pass the time with one of our many daily newspapers and magazines.
