Dear fellow students,
The AStA is seeking support for its work with international students. Therefore, we are opening applications for the position of „Admission.“
The Admission position involves close cooperation with the existing advisory services of the AStA and the Foreign Students Commission to advocate for the interests of so-called „international students“ – specifically those from non-EU countries. This group currently makes up approximately 13% of the student population at Leibniz University Hannover. The main goal is to actively support these students and applicants during their studies at LUH and to facilitate their access to university politics.
The everyday university life of international students without German citizenship comes with various challenges. Students in English-language Master’s programs often face language barriers. Structural hurdles, such as the regular renewal of residence permits, are also a common issue. Financial difficulties are particularly pressing, as these students are generally not eligible for BAföG. Additionally, international students frequently encounter racism – whether during official appointments, in clubs, in seminars, or in daily life. In collaboration with the Department for International Affairs of the AStA, individual cases will be supported, and awareness of these issues will be raised.
As part of the AStA team, you will contribute to meaningful, voluntary work that benefits students. For your efforts, you will receive a monthly allowance of €250.
We look forward to receiving your applications by December 3rd 2024 6pm, at bewerbung@asta-hannover.de!
In solidarity,
Your AStA
